First Place: The Trees By Stephen Gu (Gr. 3)
The trees would be glorious only if they are cared for
I believe that
It’s possible that the trees could die
Or, that
The Earth will be destroyed
Or, that
Life is limited
But I won’t listen to people who say
If all plant life gets ripped away on Earth
We will die
Not many will survive and
Some say that
If disaster overthrows mother nature’s pride
Everything might fade to grey
When pollution overtakes the sky
The Earth will be full of carbon dioxide
But
We have some hope
Still, I believe
The trees will not thrive
The trees will not be glorious
If they aren’t cared for
And
If we don’t protect the environment
Every living thing on Earth will not blossom
I will not concede that
We will truly flourish
Second Place: Mountains and Oceans by Sophie Liu (Gr. 3)
Towering and powerful mountains.
The highest point of all nature,
Making an astounding view.
New glistening snowflakes,
Shining in the bright sun,
All piled nicely on top of each other.
A sea of dark-green snow trees,
Groaning under the huge weight.
On a mountain,
An emerald lake shimmering in the sun,
As clear as glass,
Icy cold.
Shouts of excitement and glee,
Zooming in to the smooth lake.
With extraordinary height,
The peaks reach above the clouds,
Rising straight into the clear air.
Standing solid and strong,
They are the king of all nature.
Underneath lies smooth and helpless oceans.
Third Place: The Way Earth Will End by Aaron Chow (Gr. 3)
The end of the earth is coming.
And do not ever say,
The world will be restored again
The trees will rot and deteriorate.
It is wrong to believe that,
Society will come together
In the future,
The animals will lose their homes!
It is mindless to say that,
We can reverse the damage we’ve done.
Honourable Mention: Family By Annabella Shen (Gr. 3)
Family is not important.
It is wrong to believe that,
They bring joy and fulfillment
Family is useless
It is not true that,
They will always keep you safe.
Don’t ever care of them,
Everyone hates you.
It is not true that
They will never help you
It is not true,
They will always love you forever
Always keep in mind that.

Honourable Mention: Sakura vs. Aria by Claire Ni (Gr. 3)
Sakura is quiet and peaceful like the pink cherry blossoms.
The serene sound seeps into the room, filling it with calm music
Like as if cherry blossoms are gently swaying in the blowing breeze
The music continues playing the soft, high notes
But sometimes music can change
Aria is strong and happy, fast and jolly
The stronger breeze makes the cherry branches bend and sway
Like cherries are dancing joyfully in the wind
Happier and happier they get
Like notes skipping cheerfully.

Honourable Mention: No Lemon, No Melon?! by Valencia Cui (Gr. 3)
No lemons, no melons?
Oh, I love tasty lemons!
Lemons taste really sour
Every lemon contains power
Mini-lemons--I love them!
Oh, but sugar gives me phlegm
Never eat too much
So then you can touch
Nothing but tasty lemons
Oh, but colourful melons
Much sweeter than sour
Eat a melon in an hour
Lots of melons contain power
Oh, I’ve told you my secret…
Now, keep your lips quiet!
