Sleeping with my Parents
By Dayna Quan
First Place, Primary Category
Luna Mcgowan loved to sleep with her parents every night
She slipped into bed with her fluffy bunny and snuggled up tight.
She did this because she had a dream that caused her quite a fright.
A creepy doll with black hair and eyes would come to her and fight.
Her parents were sleepless all night long. They didn’t get any rest.
She kicked and squirmed and poked and punched. They found her such a pest.
But Luna would snore like a mean old witch cackling with the flu.
She stole all the blankets from her mom and dad, there was nothing they could do..
Luna’s retainers would always fall out and cover her parents with drool.
It was like trying to sleep, floating in bed in a spit filled swimming pool.
In the middle of the night she thought she lost her favourite stuffy bunny.
She threw a big tantrum and woke everyone up. No one thought it was funny.
Luna refused to bathe at night so in bed she was always dirty.
But the worst part of her sleeping with her folks was that she was almost thirty.
I Don't Want To Go to Sleep
By Malvina Wan
Second Place, Primary Category
My mom says I have to go to sleep.
But I do not want to go to sleep.
I think I’ll hide up in a tree.
Or play my favourite video game.
I’ll go to the forest and chop down trees
I’ll make a tree house with my stuffies.
I’ll drink some coke and run around.
Play my flute and send invitations
To all my friends to come to my party.
Write a story about myself.
Stare out the window and watch the moon.
Go for a walk to Stanley Park.
Read a story from my favourite book
Close my eyes and make a dream
Oops I fell asleep.
The Magical Family

Found a magic key behind the bed in my bedroom.
There was a magic door in the kitchen behind the fridge.
We used the key to open the magic door.
When we opened it we saw a magical toy land!
There were small toy cars driving around.
Toy airplane jets flying in the sky. Blasting over the city.
Teddy Bear stuffies were running around playing tag.
There were French Fries with guitars playing music.
We went to a playground and there were ducks sliding down the slide.
We played hide and go seek with them.
Suddenly it started to rain cotton candy.
My family started grabbing the cotton candy out of the air as it fell.
It tasted a little sour and sweet.
I ate so much. It made me feel happy inside.
The magic key started to glow and we slowly
Disappered…………waving goodbye to the ducks.
We found ourselves back in the kitchen.
Everyday we visit Toyland. I love it!
Visit from the Class Pet

Masha
Whitest,
fluffiest
bunny
you could ever imagine!
Her tail,
fluffy as a pompom,
wagged like she loves me.
Tiny paws hit the ground,
like a baby kangaroo.
Her sweet chirping,
saying “I love you!”
As you pet her,
her body as warm as a hot cocoa.
She chomps on a carrot,
like a juicy fruit you love
as you chomp through it
like a beaver chomping on a tree.
Masha
the sweetest,
kindest,
tiniest
bunny
you could ever dream of!
I want to hold Mei Mei forever -
For a lifetime.

Honourable Mention, Primary Category
I’m her favorite playmate
But sometimes I can’t play with her -
Sometimes I have to do homework
When she sees me,
She grabs her toy and
Brings it to me
But I have homework
And I can’t play.
And Mei Mei gets sad
And drops her tail
And sits at the door
And I still do my homework
But when I am done
I want to hold her for a lifetime
