MRS. CARLONE

Mrs. Carlone believes theatre has the power to build compassion and confidence. She has been involved in over 50 theatre productions in the Vancouver area and worked with companies such as Bard on the Beach, The Arts Club, Vancouver Opera, Pacific Theatre, Chemainus Theatre Festival, and Carousel Theatre for Young People. She began teaching at BASA in 2017, but has been working with students on their performance and writing for over 15 years.

Her classes are known to involve kindness, positivity and plenty of humour. Helping her students bring their own writing ideas all the way from “idea” to “performance” is a big passion of hers. In addition to her involvement with the Creative Voices program, she has developed a lot of new literature at BASA. Chances are you’ve heard or performed a piece by her during recital week, under her pen name, J.P. Casselman.

Mrs. Carlone studied playwriting through Rosebud School of the Arts, holds a BFA in Acting and Music Minor from TWU, and has an Associate Diploma from Trinity College London with distinction. She has been nominated for three Jessie Richardson Theatre awards, Ovation nominated for Most Outstanding Newcomer in musical theatre, and awarded the Dr. Dashy Goody Award for musical theatre. If you can’t tell, she loves to perform. Helping students discover their own creativity and personal flair in performance (What is the YOU version of this piece?) is what she does best.
